But where would we be without GPS, the latest news, the weather forecast not to mention emails games and text at our fingertips? My iphone keeps me from getting bored whilst I'm waiting for trains.

1/ Maps (Ordnance Survey), road signs, sense of direction.
2/Why worry yourself, it's going to happen anyway.
3/ Look out the window.
4/ Only invented for the purposes of SPAM.
5/ What's wrong with actually partaking of the occasional physical/real time game.
6/ Is it possible to actually understand text these days  verbal communication used to work quite well.

Rick

yes but having it all at the tip of your fingertips, you cant drive while reading a map or you will get pulled for careless driving, but then if you use a phone with handsfree kit then you have Satnav and phone and music all on one device, bettter than having several different devices all at once....makes life a whole lot easier having a mobile phone with built in GPS than reading a map, maps cause some people with dislexia confusion but satnavs basically tell you when to turn off, and mobiles what if your friends/family move away a whole lot easier phoning them than writing letters, spending more money on useless things when you can pay a certain ammount for a contract and text/call when you like without worrying about post getting lost... :) Mobile Phones Is Technology, Maps And Letters Are Now Ancient.... But still used today to contact Buisnesses... Eg: Solicitors, Doctors, Hospitals......

All valid points, but where's the skill in pushing a button then listening to some voice telling you to go down this or that street? Never again will you have the excuse "Oh darling I'm afraid we're lost and we'll have to stay in the car 'til dawn. Shall we hop in the back and keep warm together?"
Look what texting has done for your spelling/grammar and punctuation  I know English is a growing language but.... !
For every argument there is a counter argument and actually the only thing I have against mobiles is the owners - specifically those who seem to think loud conversations in restaurants etc. are perfectly OK - it just seems that any thought for others goes out the door when they have the latest bit of technology in their hand!
