I have just taken spoke for his first proper bath in the bath rather than a quick clean in the sink, I only ever cleaned him in the sink a couple times a year as I mainly just give him a wipe now and then. First of he didn't seem to like it was a bit new to him but after about 5 mins he was orange skinned and running around the water seeming to enjoy it I only had him in for about 10/12 ish minutes warm water he made a few weirdish sounds ( couldn't describe them ) and seemed to be trying to poo although he had a poo about 2 hours ago. Any thoughts why he was making a weird noise and how often is it good to clean him?

Never! Unless they are dehydrated, very dirty from having run through poo or, in the case of a female, after they've laid eggs (to rehydrate).

Beardies come from a very dry desert area and don't naturally come across standing water. They have evolved to get the water they need from their food, and their lungs cannot cope with high humidity.

All animals have retained a natural instinct to swim, but it doesn't mean they enjoy it or need to.

I don't know why he made noises, but it could have been sounds of distress.

Bathing does relieve constipation, so it could be the warm water stimulated him to try to 'go'.

I'd leave baths well alone I'm afraid.

It's a common mistake. If it swims like a fish....
