Hi

My baby boy is 2 and a half now.
The past few weeks he has become really restless running up and down his tank, and been off his food, which for my boy is completely unheard of.

I know this sounds like a girl ready to lay but he is 2 so surly he would have layed before?

His uv is only 4 months old.
He is pooing but not as much but his apatite is down so I expected this.

Everything I take him out he jumps straight back in. He is due for shedding but that just normally means he doesn't want to be held.

Any advise is welcome as he doesn't seem to be happy and I cannot figure out why.

Thanks

Shona an Buddy

I could well be wrong but has he got a case of "spring fever" if you know what I mean? Nod nod wink wink say no more.
If I'm not mistaken if he was a she and ready to lay you should be able to feel the eggs down the sides of her body. (I'm no expert on this matter)

He could well have, I've had a feel around and can't feel anything inside him, he's not stopped running along his tank all day today though. I've just got him back out and he started to get really annoyed
With me but he never likes being held whilst awaiting a shed, so that's nothing new.

Strange, he's normally so lazy and just sits on his hammock ha ha

As Matt said - probably spring fever. Our male gets like this every year and even flares his beard at me in a nice threat pose when I enter the room! He should settle over the next few weeks, but if not or he seems to be loosing a lot of weight then it's a vet visit.

He stayed out in the living room for half an hour before and seemed to settle abit and He's settled for the night fine.
Been thinking of getting him a girlfriend for a while now, maybe I will if it means him not waking me up scratching his glass all morning haha anything for some sleep on a Sunday morning :)

Thanks for replies

Not a good idea - if they're in the same enclosure they will almost certainly mate continuously which is bad for her health plus you have the problem of 3~5 clutches of 20 plus eggs per year. Even if they're in separate enclosures he will see her and carry on worse than he is already. They are basically solitary creatures and really don't need companionship.

Glad he seems ok. Wish I had an overly active dragon right now, mine has the blues and I don't know why.
They can be a worry.

Oh they can be a worry. Worth it though :)

Buddy got me back for talking about him last night, took him out as he was going mad at his glass, the moment he got on my bed he ran over to the other side out of reach turned to look at me and had a lovely poo just for me!! Haha aren't i lucky! Ha

The most active Reuben ever seems to get is just before doing his business.

Yeah Buddy will do anything to get out his tank to do his business these days, or if it takes me more than 3 seconds to start clearing it up he starts going mad. Don't blame the guy though, he can be one stinky dude haha
