Hi all, my two beardies are puffing out their beards and licking their lips.
I have only had them for 2 weeks and this is new!!!
Am I right in thinking that this is the beginings of them shedding?

thanks Ben.

Hi Ben,

You dont say how old they are or when they last shed but yes this can be an indication they are about to shed. Have they also been quieter over the last few days? perhaps off there food a little?

Having two beardies together can be hit and miss so if there behaviour also includes them fighting or being hostile towards one another then this could also be a sign they arent going to get on!

A lot of the time people sell beardies in pairs but in the wild they only really come together to breed. I think the main reason people sell them in pairs is because 1) clutches can be so big and homes in short supply 2) lack of knowledge and they think they should be kept in pairs and 3) a pet shop trying to get lots of money out of you!

Have a look through the forums on shedding. You will find lots of helpful information on them as well.

A.

Hi ant.

they are about 13 weeks old and have been eating well.
there hasn't been any ill tempers between them as they always seem to be cuddling up to eachother!!!
both are very alert to us and surroundings, and poopin fine.

Thanks Ben.

Not long now and you will have little flakes of skin all over the viv. Dont be tempted to pick it. Just make sure they have some rough wood/ stone so they can rub it off themselves.

Dont be tempted to bath them, they can do this without the help of water but post back if it goes on for two long or the skin looks too tight because a little soak in the tub can help that out but first priority is to leave them to it :D

Hi puffing out their beards and licking their lips is all normal, they do it for no apparent reason sometimes, especially when young
