Hi, just wondering whether beardies can naturally swim? Dont worry I have no plans to submerge Puff in water to check but I am going to give her a bit of a wash tomorrow, I dont make a habit of this but she seems to have walked through her poo and smeared it all over her tummy and legs!. She has had a very shallow bath before and seemed ok with it, just interested whether they enjoy water or not? Im sure I have seen 'youtube' clips of them swimming! :)

Yes, I have heard that some beardies (not all) like water and do 'swim'

I once dipped mine in water (same problem - poo all over his tummy) and he HATED it

Yes they can all swim, it seems to be something that all Australian lizards can do! Know one seems to know why though

Thanks for your replies, feel a bit better about giving her a bath now, seeing as there is a chance she could enjoy it!

Thanks Rick that made good reading but I did state in my first post I dont make a habit of it and was merely giving her a wash as she had poo on her tummy and legs, making it unhygenic for both her and I! I have no intention of giving Puff swimming lessons and daily baths  just curious as whether it was something they naturally like or dislike! For the record she was fine probably enjoyed the warm water and appreciated the wash as we all know how much beardie poo smells  ! She is now snuggled in a soft towel being mothered by me, making sure every scale is dry!! :D

I pop Frodo in the bath every wek to two weeks, simply because he holds on to his poo and it helps him to go. When I do, the water is just deep enough for him to swim in if he wants to. My hand is always nearby for him to clamber up but he seems to like swimming! Never shows any signs of stress. I wouldn't put him in the water though if he went to the toilet normally!
