Your beardies appear to be healthy and happy. Can I ask what size crickets you are feeding? How many feeds a day do you give them? If they are eating approx 40 a day each that sounds fine.Don't feed too many mealworms - they are quite salty and hard to digest and probably shouldn't be fed more than twice a week a few at a time.

Your basking temp and cool temps are spot on. What dusting powder do you use? You need to dust every single day - 5 days with a calcium powder (I use Calypso cricket dust but their are others on the market) and two days with nutrobal (-a multi vit powder -I do this saturday/sunday as it's easier to remember). Some people use Dragondust which is a mixture of the two and can be used everyday which is easier!

You seem to be doing everything right so please don't worry, your beardies are gorgeous! Also steer away from the woodchip/bark! People who work in petshops tend to have very different and very wrong ideas of how to care for reptiles. Maybe it's because they are so used to dealing with more basic animals such as rabbits, hamsters etc and as reptiles are slowly but surely getting more and more popular, petshops want to make more money by selling them in their shops but sadly sometimes their husbandry and care advice is very questionable at times.

Your beardies look really well and their wieght is fine for their length.
At this age they are growing so fast and need to eat lots and lots. The best way to know if they are growing ok is too weigh and measure them every week. Each beardie grows differently and at different rates so its hard to compare with others so weighing them every week is the best way of knowing you are doing the right thing :D

It's very difficult to give an answer on weight - beardies grow at very different rates, and can also vary a lot as adults.

The main thing at this age is to make sure they are still eating and growing. If you weigh weekly and they are putting on weight than that is fine.

The trouble with pet shops is that they handle a lot of reptiles, and think the same things apply to very different species. They also only look after each animal for a short time, so when they tell you've they've had no trouble with wood chip, for example, it's probably because the reptile in question has only been on it a few days or a couple of weeks. So they don't see the problem - but the person who buys it from them may end up with a heap of trouble!

I've yet to find a pet shop who I would trust!

You are obviously looking after your beardies well - actually owning beardies and keeping them healthy makes you the expert, not your 'friend'!

Ignore him - he obviously doesn't know what he is talking about!

At least you know you are doing everything right :D Even if the poop specimans comes back postive, and it does happen, don't worry it isn't because you are doing anything wrong. Cats and dogs get worms all the time its just that you can worm them regulary, whereas reptiles have to be weighed and the correct dose given for the amount of parasites/egss found in the faecal float. :D

I took renton into a reptile specialist shop to see what they'd got that we can use when building the viv. While the staff were very friendly and let him handle an adult beardie they told us that beardies were social creatures and showed us 4 adults they were babysitting who were being kept in a temp viv in the back of the shop. It was about 2x3x1. Renton's grandad nearly choked on his tea when I said we'd been there, as unless you know what you're going for they are well known to take unsuspecting customers for a ride. That's why this forum is so good. From just a few days I can feel confident that any queries or worries will be answered in a sensible way.

BTW I think your beardies look wonderful.
