For anyone who was fallowing my thread about my female dragon acting like this, she has parasites. Did a 10-day antibiotics course at home, but she still wasn't eating so the vet hospitalised her for 3 nights to syringe feed. She's a bit better, but still has some nasties in her faeces. Colelcted her this morning and i have to give her injections every 3 days for a while, and twice daily bathing for the time being. And it's cost me, so far, £124, so yeah, definitely get down the vet and only consider it a clean bill of health if they do a faecal

You can use the on-line lab. all you do is take the results down to your vet when they send them to you. As you say - it's not easy however when they're not eating to start with! I'd suggest a vet visit without the float however just to check nothing else is wrong.

I have to wait until next week to take her , as we have 3 exotic vets within driving distance. The one i go to in Brentwood charge £30 for a check up, but the vet is not there until next week.So i phoned the others ....Wickford wanted £55 for a check up and Romford wanted a ridiculous £85!!I nearly hit the floor!! Iam not tight but what a difference in prices, obviously treatment is on top of those prices.

I have pulled one of her pinkies out the freezer to give to her today, i know she has not laid but as she has not been eating iam hoping i might perk her up abit as she loves them.

Iam going to phone the online float today, you posted a link before for full parasoity and its only £26. PAlsvetlab ,then just got to get her to give me a sample

Hmm, shop around. PALS wanted £39 for me to do a full faecal screen, my specialist reptile vet charged me £34 for a check-up, faecal test, and the antibiotics. When i took her back after the 10-day treatment, they hospitalised her for 4 nights and gave me the syringes for her course of injections, and that cost £94 - for 4 nights in their facilities and them syringe feeding and injecting her, and the medication to take home. Your vet prices are outrageous. It'd probably be cheaper to travel to mine!

Maidstone, Kent. We're not too far from Essex (i bought my snake from south ockendon) and they're really, really good. They actually gave me my first appointment free so you never know, if you explain the distance you've travelled...

My daughters Beardie has not eaten for a while, they took it to the vets Thursday (they took blood tests and faecal float, her hubby got called by the vet today and it has something that is eating its bowels ! The vet said the kindest thing is to bring it in and put it to sleep (i'm just in shock). The poor little Dragon, I haven't heard from them yet :( I told them to ask how she got it)

I'd get a second opinion too, and ask what the parasite is to look it up online

Thanks for the info, Glock has been showing all the signs u have said for past couple of weeks and we thought he was maybe lonely so we have been on the lookout for a female to introduce to him but now I know exactly what's wrong with him and this would probably be a bad time to bring anothe BW into his vivarium

Any time is bad to introduce another beardie. Basically they will either fight (possibly to the death) or continually breed - despite what shops will tell you they are solitary creatures and do not need a companion, given that their natural habitat stretches some 3000 km x 1500 km putting two in a 1200 mm enclosure really stretches the friendship and will lead to all sorts of trouble - see viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9750

Hi everyone , it been 6 months since my last confession ... I mean post.
Need a bit of advise if poss, my beardie Misty has slowed right down and gone off her greens but still keen on live when offered. She seems to want to just doze lately and has taken to a corner and today has bearly opened her eyes in fact at one point wouldn't open her eyes. I have no reason to think she is poorly I only got her last Xmas so this time last year she was in a pet shop so not sure if she's brumated before. Does it sound like she wants too ?
If so is it too late to start her ?
Should I start to reduce her temps and stop feeding her. ?
Any help would be be appreciated

Sounds pretty much like it. I'd stop feeding, hold of temp drop until she's had a clear out then start temp reduction with light period also being reduced.
