Kids chose the name and it doesn't yet suit him as he's only a juvenile. 5-6 months old now and we've had him for a couple of weeks. First time we have kept a beardy so I'm gonna have loads of questions in the coming weeks,months and years lol

Looks more like a gecko from here!

Haha that would be just my luck....defo a beardy (he says full of confidence), took me a while to locate a nice brightly coloured one in the UK.

Was shocked to see his tail turn pale overnight last week but am informed he's just shedding.....he's a serious eater so hope this will help him grow well, he ate 40 crickets in 1 sitting the other day ...is that normal? They were only tiny crickets

Enormous appetites at this age but watch that you don't over-feed as it puts a strain on the whole body.Crix can be approx. the same size as the distance between his eyes and 20~30 max over the day will do (plus veg of course).

The baddest beardy in the vivarium? Big Bad Barry!

Hi all (Rick),

Barry developed a small dark spot on his back which has not disappeared during shedding, it seems to be getting larger in diameter but not sure if that is just due to him growing. We think he burnt himself in the early days, doesn't seem to bother him and now is about the size of a 5p piece.

Hope it's just a burn and nothing more?any ideas?

I'd get it checked out. Believe it or not but beardies can get skin cancers!! It does look more like a burn so is probably nothing to worry about - however better safe than sorry.
