When i first got Mikey, the way his viv was set up he had only a few small rocks, one huge log and a small half log to crawl under, along with a few fake plants.

I noticed a few days ago that, this set up, the log was taking up almost all the floor space, so i took it out, along with the half log, since all it was used by was the crickets, to hide under.

Now that i've taken them out and re-arranged the rocks and plants he now has a lot more room to chase his bugs around.

So give me your opinion, when it comes to beaded dragons: Is less more when it comes to equipping their viv?

P.S. Im not sure if this is in the right thread of the forum, if not feel free to move it mods :)

I would say it can go in the Vivarium Set Up/ Equipment section but I dont actually know how to move it

I personally think that less is more. The more floor space they have the better. Some people have really nice looking vivs with loads of decor and plants etc but it leaves no room for the dragon to walk around on. In Tia's viv I literally have her basking log and a little shelf ive made her. My signature pic is what it used to look like

I just have a few rocks, slate and sand in mine. I could do with a background to make it look more like a vivarium but everything is pretty much flat so she can run around. I did have bigger rocks but spikey doesn't like them so I have taken them out.

Love your set up Rick. I wish Kirsty would let me get a bigger viv. Tia would be in a 6ft long x 3ft wide x 3ft tall if I could have my own way

and so you should be (good spotting though)! Yes two females in a viv approximately 8ft long giving sufficient room for them to each have a good home base, plus I have spare vivs and would have moved one at the first sign of aggression. Whilst we're confessing our sins I also bring up babies on sand after the first couple of weeks - it's a fine layer about one granule thick, but it gives them a bit of traction when chasing crix and also helps in cleaning the three times daily poos! I know what I preach and will continue to say - however when you've been around them long enough you do gain the confidence and additional knowledge to go outside the box at times. I'd still never place two dragons in a 4ft viv and for someone breeding for the first few years a clean base or paper is still the way to go.
