please could someone give some advice as im so confused, i just need to know if my set up is ok/ enough for my beardie, i have a 54 inch vivarium, he has a 100watt basking lamp at one end and a exo terra repti glo 13 watt 10.0uvb light but im not sure if the uvb one is enough, i read that the long strip lights were better as they cover more of the viv so today i bought a 30 inch 25watt repti glo 10.0 strip light but im not sure if this is now too much?? It would cover 2/3 of the viv. After i bought it i read that they should have an area of no light/heat, is this right? If so could i have the basking lamp one end towards the back of the viv and the this uvb directly in front of the basking lamp towards the front of the viv? So then at least 1/3 of the viv at the other end will have no heat/light?? If this uvb is ok would an arcadia reptile ultra seal controller be ok to house it? Many thanks, i just want to do whats best for him but im finding it all quite confusing.

It does get very confusing at times! Either UV supply will work as long as they're over the basking area so that he gets a reasonable exposure time. I actually use 2' fittings in all my enclosures at the basking end, this leaves the other end for cooling down and a little shade if they want it. I can't comment on the actual controller as we get slightly different fittings in Aus. but I would assume that it is rated for 25 watt and if so will be OK.
