Hi, i have been doing a bit of research on breeding my beardie, i have weighed up the costs of keeping them and all that and this is no problem, all i am wanting to know if it is possible to hatch eggs in a small 2ft viv, no dragons in it just for an icubator, if so do i just need a heat light in it, thanks, any help appreciated.

You have to be able to keep a humidity level of 70 to 90%, and a constant temp of 84 degrees fahrenheit. If you can do this then there won't be a problem.

If you haven't already please do read the stickys at the top of this section, it really really isn't an easy low cost hobby and one other thing to take into account - the number of dragons people are attempting to rehome because the don't want/can't handle/got bored with.

Thanks, i have had a word with my local petshop and they are willing to take any eggs i don't want, this is a well respected petshop, i say petshop but i mean reptile shop, to be fair im a little unsure about the humidity levels, how to keep a viv at the right humidity, is that to do with the wet vermiculite, i would just like to be able to say i have bread, hatched and reared my own dragon from a baby, any help is appreciated, thanks

You will need a heatmat for warmth, and a bowl of water in the viv. As long as there's not too much air escaping I would think you could keep the humidity levels ok. The eggs should be placed on damp vermiculite - I use cricket boxes to put them in. If the vermiculite is drying out you can wet this - but never directly spray the eggs directly.
