 Post subject: Digging in Viv already

Hi My Female has starting digging in the corner on her Viv and it's only been 5 days since I saw them mate is she just having a practice ? or is she going to lay this soon grateful for any advice :)

They quite possibly mated before you even got them so laying soon is on the cards. Once she really trashes the viv is when you need to provide some sort of laying box but do get it ready sooner than later.

Thanks I've got the lay box sorted and a ready for her now as well as the incubator so i'm all prepared now just in case she has them earlier the breeding section photo posts on here were really helpful thanks so much ;)

Well it's been 2 wks since I saw them mate and last night she had 17 lovely white egg's i've transferred them to the homemade incubator temp is at 29 and humidity is 80% now we just wait I've heard she will lay again in another 2wks is this true? thanks :)

If it was only two weeks then the current batch are from a previous mating.You can reckon on around 3 weeks between further batches. Have you seriously considered the cost,time and eventual disposal of the babies once hatched as I can tell you as a breeder you are setting yourselves up for a lot of hard work!

Hi Rick thanks i'm aware of the cost and have some money put aside and your breeding post was really helpful thanks as for the time i'm fully dedicated to this it's been a wonderful experience I was over the moon last night when she was laying egg's and the 1st batch i've got very good homes for all of them that make it... as for 2nd and 3rd batches i'll be disposing of them and don't plan on further breeding either as they are now separate the 1st time was a shock and it now seems they mated before I got them as well I know i'll be out of pocket when i'm done too :lol: but the pleasure they have give me is worth it I love my Beardies
