Hi,
I recently bought an incubator 2nd hand for £50 and touch wood so far all is running well. Though i have stuck an extra temp gauge inside just to be safe incase digital one on outside is wrong. When i got it i was given a bag of hatchrite to 'nest' the eggs in which said no extra humidity was needed. Im not a great believer in trusting in manufacturers so have got a small amount of water to create some humidity. My worry is that i may 'drown' the embryos so to speak, any advice would be great as im new to the breeding side. :?

As a breeder I hatch all ours in small take away food containers half filled with vermiculite which is just damp enough to clump when squeezed. If it starts drying out then a quick spray of water will dampen it, however you need to ensure that you don't get the eggs wet. Maintain the incubator temp at a steady 28C and you should be OK.

Rick
