Collected Coco on friday 4th June and after setting the viv up (fiancee Andrea busy keeping Coco happy by petting him/her) Coco was introduced to his/her new home.
I have put some sandstone slabs in the base of the viv to help keep nails in trim and make cleaning up that bit easier. Around the slabs is the fine sand that Louise30 had supplied. Will sort out some pictures to put on here soon.
Will be taking Coco to the local rep specialist to determine which sex he/she is when he/she has had time to settle in. Don't want to upset Coco by moving he/she around to much too soon. Andrea and I have an idea looking at pictures on various sites and in the book I have read from cover to cover numerous times over the last few months that it may be a she.
Today after a slow start (Coco not us) he/she has been busy basking, eating greens and crickets, enjoying time on both Andrea's and my shoulders and exploring any new stuff in the viv.
Further reports as and when.

Glad Coco is settling in just fine - I love the name  It may take a few days for her to settle in properly so don't be alarmed if he/she becomes quiet. Beardies are very hard to sex when young and sometimes they cannot be accurately sexed until almst adult sized - what looks female can be a late developing male.

Born sometime in September 2009 so around 8 - 9 months.
One good thing when I took Merlin the cat back to the vet yesterday they were able to tell me the nearest vet that is trained for reptiles. So just need to get and register my beardie in the hope that they will never be needed for anything nasty.
Reading other items on here I am guessing it is worth have poo samples tested every so often to ensure all is well. Can the regular vet do this or is it best to get a specialist vet to do the tests?

Depends on vets, some specialist vets can do it on site, others have to post it off which increases the price.

Well found out this afternoon my beardie is a female :) Andrea is over the moon as Merlin her cat is a male, Zak and Eli the chinchillas are brothers and quite a few of the Tropical fish are male. As we have had the beardies sex confirmed we are now changing the name to one we were going to have if we had bought a beardie from a shop. So Coco is now Magda. Hope you don't mind the name change Louise30.

Well Magda comes back off her holiday with Louise30 tomorrow.
The lovely Andrea has said Magda's Viv can go in the dining room (downstairs) instead of in the little bedroom (upstairs) :D
I think it is mainly due to the fact it's a maul getting the viv and it's stand upstairs
The great thing is Magda will get to see more going on rather than just having to listen to Zak and Eli the chinchillas.

Magda's spent the day trying to dig to Australia. I think she is wanting to lay some eggs. Reading up and asking a local beardie specialist seems to support this. So on the specialists advice she now has a tupperware type container with vermiculite in so she can burrow and if she is producing eggs can lay them so hopefully won't become egg bound. That is if she decides to use it of course
