Ok, quick update....its trial run time of heating and lighting!

The background has been started but I wanted to install lighting and heating before carrying on as it will help dry out grout faster. Just to mention..oh my gosh how much mess does carving polystyrene create...im still finding it round the house, I even think I inhaled some! The OH wasnt too impressed! :?
So today I've drilled holes for light wires and themostat probe, Ive mounted spotlight fitting and strip light fixtures, added the reflector and now have left them on to achieve temps. Plan is, once I'm at acceptable BD temps throughout viv I'll them plug the themostat in and adjust dial accordingly and play around with it.
Lights have been runningfor just over 1 hour and temps are 26.2 degrees C at cool end, 29.1degrees C smack in middle on viv and 39.2 degrees C on basking spot so Im feeling positive

Here are some pics.

Check it after 2~3 hours as it's possible to get a gradual; build up of temp. How do you like those GU10's nice little light and as a wall mount you can move the focal point around as well.

Well the themostat is hooked up now, I'm nipping out for few hours so will leave everything running and check it when I get bac this evening.
Yeah I love it, the fact I can swivel it around and move it up and down is great! Plus as we use same bulbs for our kitchen light it means I'll always have a spare  thanks for suggesting it! If anyone wants name of light I used or link I'll be happy to supply it :-)
I've got nice view into cool end from where I'm sitting on sofa, really cant wait to get our dragon

Evening all :)

Heres another update.....so the grouting has started...gosh what a tedious time consuming job!! The 1st layer was horrendous as all the polystyrene kept clumping up on brush but I've finally finished it.. I'm hoping the next layers will be easier as there wont be any loose polystyrene. Ignore the wires they still need to be clipped /hidden and decor only placed in there to see what its lookin like :)

Coming on nicely. I have one concern however and that is the very high platform (top left corner) babies sometimes get the feeling they are flying type dragons and will launch themselves off/at things so from a personal point of view I'd look at blocking that area off for a time (if possible).

Rick :D

Hi Rick, thanks for the reply. Good advice but we had decided to buy a sub adult. We are going to view him and hold him on saturday and if we like him we'll buy him and the woman will hold onto him until sept 20th when we get back off holiday. His a lovely orange 7month old beardie.
